Year One: EXPLORE Options and Learn About You

  • Knowledge: Become aware of God’s hand in your life and the distinctives of how you are made. Map pathways of your dreams, interests, experiences, strengths and challenges. Talk to God and others about your ideas. Consider taking a career assessment and/or visit with a Career Advisor, Academic Advisor or a mentor to connect your story to potential careers and majors.
  • Planning: Plan out your educational journey by exploring curricular and co-curricular activities that will guide your development. Learn about particular careers and majors by meeting with a Career Advisor, Academic Advisor, professors, and/or researching courses.
  • Action: Explore potential careers using Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH). Prepare for future networking by identifying people in potential career fields to ask questions about their work. Consider reaching out to family & friends, or alumni and professors. Consider (1) attending a career event, (2) pursuing a company tour, (3) joining professional clubs, (4) volunteering with organizations, (5) working jobs during semester or summer (see jobs page), and/or (6) looking into study abroad programs for the future.
