Year Three: EXPERIENCE Quality Internships/Jobs

  • Knowledge: Evaluate the work experiences you’ve had so far. Is there a new field or industry you want to explore that might be a better fit for you?
  • Planning: Quality internships, or equivalent experiences, are critical for landing most good entry-level jobs upon graduation. Identify target jobs, industries, organizations, and necessary stepping stone experiences to reach your ultimate target (visit Hoovers or OOH). Meeting with a Peer Internship Coordinator can help in this process. If you are considering graduate school, start preparing now (see grad school guide)
  • Action: Challenge yourself to pursue substantive internships, student leadership, and stepping-stone jobs related to your desired career field. This will help you to be considered for higher-level positions and graduate programs upon graduation. Create a LinkedIn page to build your professional online brand; LinkedIn is the #1 recruiting source nationwide. Continue to tailor your resume for specific opportunities, and quantify the measurable impact you’ve made on jobs, etc. as much as you can.
