Biola University has a local chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for communication departments nationwide. A student must pay a one time entry fee of $25 and a $15 fee per continuing semester of membership. Each student must have a minimum GPA to join the society of 3.25 overall and 3.45 GPA in the major. Students must have completed 60 units at Biola of which 12 units minimum must be in Communication Studies courses.
Members of Lambda Pi Eta plan events for the benefit of the university, usually involving communication practices and social justice issues. These events include seminars, off-campus visitations, and public awareness demonstrations. Being able to list Lambda Pi Eta membership on your resume assists potential employers to recognize the national acknowledgement of academic excellence. Members of Lambda Pi Eta are indicated as such in the graduation program for the university at both fall and spring commencements.
